Making an Appointment
Established clients with a writing center account can self-book in-person, online, and drop-off (graduate students only) tutoring appointments using the process below. If this is your first time using WConline, you must make an account.
During your appointment, you may work with your tutor from any point in the writing process.

- Use your @rowan email address
- Choose a 10 digit password
- Provide details about your program and year
- Click “Create Account”
- Log-in to book an appointment
Two types of appointments
Live Appointments (Face-to-Face and Online)

- Understanding and approaching an assignment or project
- Planning your writing (outlines, phases, sub-deadlines)
- Understanding and engaging with readings
- Generating ideas for writing
- Refining ideas
- Extending/further developing your ideas
- Integrating sources, including using quotes, paraphrasing, lead-in phrases, transitions and citation
- Structuring/organizing and reorganizing ideas
- Feedback as a peer reader
- Guidance as you revise and edit
- Citation methods
- Talking through ideas, phases and helping with identifying resources
- Talk out writing conventions for specific types of academic writing (examples: exploratory essay, research paper, annotated bibliography, summaries, slideshow presentations)

Drop-off Appointments (Graduate Students Only)
- 5 business days return time of feedback from appointment slot
- Tutor provides feedback based on your identified needs
- Best to include at least one item: assignment sheet, guidelines, rubric, or your goal for project/intended use
- Must include details on what type of feedback you are looking for
- Feedback as a reader
- Feedback as to organization and structure of argument
- Help identifying grammar/structure patterns that do not align for academic conventions and resources for grammar/structure
- Feedback on adherence to basic citation conventions (in-text, sources, cover page) or a specific named convention (example: level headers)
- Feedback on adherence to assignment guidelines
- Feedback on analysis or synthesis
- You need to have something composed to use this service. It can be a partial work.
How to Make an Appointment
Click “Make an appointment”
1. White spaces are always available times. Click on white spaces to make an appointment.
2. Adjust the time (choose 30 or 60 minutes). Your tutor must be available for the time you choose.
3. Fill out the form. Make sure to include details about the feedback you want.
4. If you would like in-line feedback provide a link to a google doc or other media hosted in the Rowan gsuite and marked “available to everyone at Rowan”. You may also upload a .doc, .docx, or .pdf for summative feedback.

a. Inside the gsuite media (doc, slide show…) click on in the top right corner. From the drop down box that says “restricted” or “anyone with link” click on the drop down arrow and choose “
b. At the bottom of the pop up box click “change”. c. Under “Get Link” click the drop down arrow and choose “Rowan University”. It should say “Anyone in this group with this link can view”. “Cop link” and paste it into your appointment. |
5. Upload or copy and paste any assignment guidelines or rubrics you would like to share with your tutor.
6. Click “Create Appointment”
7. You may return to your appointment and change details, add links or attachments, modify the day and time or cancel up until 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. Click on the day and time you reserved or follow the link to reenter the appointment block.
8. If you have an in-person appointment: On the day and time of your appointment, you will meet with your tutor at the Rowan Writing Center (Campbell Library Room 131)
9. If you have an online appointment: On the day and time of your appointment you may enter the appointment form window by clicking “Start or joining online consultation”.

a. If you choose “Graduate Writing Support” you will receive an email notification from www.rowanwritingcenter.com when your feedback is available. A google doc link available to “anyone at Rowan” is the best way to receive detailed feedback from your tutor.
