About the Writing Center
MISSION STATEMENT
The Rowan Writing Center’s mission is to create a university community of strong, confident writers and communicators. We offer an inclusive, accessible, and supportive environment where Rowan Writing Center tutors provide opportunities that enable student writers to discover and develop effective writing and composing practices. We offer a space where writers of many genres can find support at any stage of the writing process. From brainstorming ideas, organizing them, revising drafts and checking citations, the RWC and its tutors provide a comfortable environment for students to improve and succeed.
We are a multiliteracy resource center that invites students to work collaboratively on all types of writing projects, including academic papers, argument essays, creative writing, and multimodal projects with trained peer tutors. We integrate writing, speaking, digital media and other modes of communication in order to serve diverse students and their needs across disciplines, languages, and learning differences. In addition to print-based essays, students in a multiliteracy center are often found collaborating with tutors on slide presentations, videos, social media, graphic design, performance, public speaking, and more.

Graduate Writing Support: Asynchronous / Drop Off APPOINTMENTS
Asynchronous tutoring happens outside of real time; there may be hours or days between communication between the tutor and tutee. While this may not seem ideal, asynchronous tutoring offers some major benefits. It allows tutors more time to look over your work, which may be beneficial for longer pieces, such as a thesis or dissertation. Asynchronous tutoring also allows for a deep and continuous collaboration between the tutor and tutee. This is ideal for larger projects. This drop-off writing service is for graduate students working on a piece that is 5+ pages long only.
After scheduling an appointment, that tutor will get to work as soon as possible, and you will receive feedback via a client report form or in Google Docs within 5 business days. From there, feel free to schedule a synchronous appointment with your tutor to discuss their suggestions.
