“The goal of each tutoring session is learning, not a perfect paper.” -Jeff Brooks
The Rowan Writing Center’s mission is to create a university community of strong, confident writers. Our goal is to develop the writer, not just the writing. Rowan Writing Center tutors provide resources and opportunities that enable student writers to discover and develop effective writing practices. We offer a space where all writers can find support at any stage of the writing process. From brainstorming ideas, organizing paragraphs, to revising drafts and checking citations, the RWC and its tutors provide a comfortable environment for students to improve and succeed as writers.
In a world of one-size-fits-all and impersonal classes, our one-on-one sessions provide refreshingly personal attention. During your half-hour or hour appointment, your tutor will work with you to help you find answers, overcome obstacles, and reach your writing and academic goals. Tutoring appointments can be made for any written assignment in any discipline -- even projects not associated with a class. From lab reports and research papers to argumentative essays and personal statements, WC tutors are highly adaptable and can offer assistance for diverse writing situations. Best of all, each appointment is a collaboration between you and your tutor, ensuring that you will leave not just with a clearer direction for your assignment, but with a clearer vision to achieve your writing goals.
